The title of the album “Old Cairo” is the English translation of the title of the first song, El-Qahira The Adima. It is the first album of a series dedicated to the Egyptian folk dances.
This album compiles new recordings produced by Nesma of music that was composed for the work of the legendary Egyptian choreographer Mahmoud Reda for the national Egyptian dance company Reda between the 60s and 70s.
More than 50 of the greatest Egyptian musicians have participated in these recordings produced at Ammer Sound studio in Cairo in 2007. The oud player and composer Moddathir Aboul Wafa was in charge of the music direction of the recordings; he did an exceptional job to recreate the same arrangements and the same flavor that this music had when played live by the great Orchestra of the Reda Troupe. The album also includes two original songs composed by Moddathir Aboul Wafa with a lovely Egyptian taste.
1. Al-Qahira El Adima (10:06)
2. El Aataba Guezaz (3:00)
3. Garib Al Dar (6:10)
4. El Shamadan (6:13)
5. El Hamama (4:24)
6. Samaa Hos (8:32)
